DAY 1: CAIRO
Ideal Tours representative will meet and assist you at Cairo International Airport. Then you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Cairo.
DAY 2: PYRAMIDS & MUSEUM
After breakfast enjoy an excursion to the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Khefren and Mykerinus & see the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Then pay a visit to the Egyptian Museum where you can see the collection of Tutankhamun among other splendid pharaonic artifacts. Overnight at the hotel in Cairo.
DAY 3: CAIRO, BAHARYIA & WHITE DESERT
Early start from hotel in Giza to avoid traffic jam towards Baharyia Oasis (around 365 KM). Breakfast while on road. Arrive Baharyia around 12:00 o'clock and visit the small museum where the recently discovered golden Mummies are displayed. Continue further south to Crystal Mountain where we stop for lunch we continue further 60 KM to the White Desert where we shall camp.
DAY 4: WHITE DESERT , DAKHLA OASIS
From White Desert we drive on Farafra Oasis (around 40 Km), then continue to Dakhla oasis (around 340 Km) - check in to Badouin camp for dinner and overnight. Meanwhile the crew will fuel the cars and buy last minute fresh supplies.
DAY 5: SUGAR LOAF MUD PANS
pick up the military escort in the morning and head to last check point, then leave the paved road towards Sugar loaf, a spectacular rock formation. Continue towards yardnes formation site or mud pans which is an ancient lake site, after it was dry, the fauna left fossilized in the playa sediment had formed in the shape of sea lions in the direction of the wind giving a spectacular landscape view.
DAY 6: WADI WASSA- SOUTHERN GILF
We head towards Southern Gilf kebir from the east, which is much broken by intensive water erosion that created a large system of valleys. We will enter from Wadi Wassa or the wide valley and then explore southern Gilf, where we shall camp.
DAY 7: SHAW CAVE - EIHT BELLS - PRINCE MONUMENT - UWEINAT MOUNTAIN
Continue through southern Gilf to the rock art cave discovered by Kennedy shaw. Then drive to eight Bells, where an airport field was marked. Drive to price monument erected by Hungarian explorer Almasy to the late Prince of Egypt Kamal Aldin Hussien, who discovered and named the Gilf Kebir plateau in 1926. Continue to Uweinat Mountain where we shall camp for 2 nights.
DAY 8: UWIENAT MOUNTAIN( KARKUR TALH BELGIUM SITE)
The planed program is to visit to the rock art discovered by the Belgium expedition in 1968 and later make a visit to a spectacular dry water fall with special rock formations. Continue exploring and walk before we go back to camp Uwienat was discovered by the Egyptian explorer Ahmed Hassanien during the first and only crossing of the Eastern Desert (Sahara) by camel, for 8 month and over 3500 Kilometres Hassanien started his legendary expedition from Sallom to El Obied in Sudan. Among the expedition result was determining the correct position of Kufra on the Map of Africa and the discovery of Arkenu and Uwienate. Also recording the forgotten and erased history of the sanussi leaders and the tribes of the desert.
DAY 9: CLAYTON CRATER - WADI SORA
From Uwienat Mountain we drive north to Clayton craters, a group of volcanic craters, continue to wadi sora, or the pictures valley; the land of rock art in the Gilf Kebir. First we visit swimmers cave discovered by Almasy in 1933. Then visit the Mestqawe-Forggini cave discovered in 2002 with the richest assembly of the rock art drawings and engravings in the whole of Egypt, some travellers consider this cave to be the (Sistine Chapel) of the African rock art. Later camp in a spectacular area where the rocks were shaped like domes.
DAY 10: AQAPA PASS - GAP DUNES
From wadi Sora camp we head east and south on Almasy track towards the Aqaba pass, following the valley that runs from the plain towards the central Gilf Kebir area. At this point we are at the Gop that splits the Gilf Kiber plateau to a northern and southern part. We drive and explore the area looking for any possible habitation traces and stone tools.
DAY 11: GILF PLATEAUX - WADI HAMRA
From central Gilf Kebir we continue to ascend the dunes and cliffs to the top surface of the plateau, this part may require long walks by the group as the director may advise. Begin on the top of the plateau we will visit a terrace overlooking the plain, a monument was placed here by woltrwad Lama for the late Samir Lama who pioneered 4x4 operations to the top of Gilf Kebir and who explored this area for decades. Then drive to a pass that would take us down into Wadi Hamra. Camp in one of the most beautiful sites t the Gilf Kiber wall and Sand Sea dunes.
DAY 12: SILICA GLASS
we drive north towards the Great Sand Sea. Leaving the Gilf behind we will enter the area of southern Sand Sea where the giant dunes block any passage to east or west. We will drive in between the dunes to a suitable Camping area. Spend the afternoon and the next early morning hour exploring the silica glass and the stone tools.
DAY 13: BIG CARIN
From silica camp we drive north in suitable corridor between the huge dunes and at a suitable point going west towards Big Carin which Patrick Clayton built after his first east west crossing of the sand sea in 1932 Clayton discovered the silica glass area and was the cartographer responsible for mapping the desert.
DAY 14: BIR WAHED
Continue driving north towards Siwa. Stopping at a petrified wood site and then continue to Bir Wahed a hot water spring in between the dunes which formed a lake, resembling the lakes that once existed in prehistory times in the Sahara. Overnight Camping in Bir Wahed one of the most beautiful Spots in the Sand Sea.
DAY 15: SIWA OASIS
This day we head to the Oasis in the Morning, visiting the old town of shally, and then will lunch at nice restaurant, before sunset we will visit Dakrour Mountain with a panoramic view of the oasis overlooking the palm trees from one side and the dunes on the other side. Then back to our hotel to check in Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 16: SIWA SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast at the hotel then continue to Visit The tombs inside the Dead Mountain ( Gabel El Mouta ) where you can see man tombs like SI Amon, MSW Isis, Crocodile Tombs). Visit the Temple of Alexander, Cleopatra bath, and the Temple of Aghormi, dedicated to the God Amon- 26 Dynasty. Lunch is included. After that transfer to see the Siwa House Museum. Then another recommended Sunset view at most of the guide books at Fitnas Lake. Drive back to your hotel Dinner and overnight at the hote l.
DAY 17: BACK CAIRO
After breakfast, transfer to your hotel in Cairo and overnight.
DAY 18: FINAL DEPARTURE
Breakfast at hotel and check out to transfer to Cairo international Airport for final departure.
